Initial underpainting.

Artist’s Statement

This painting was my response to another South coast Low. Again, it is almost monochromatic, representing the dark, threatening storm hanging over this part of the world. The darkness represents the coal – Black Diamonds that were once mined commercially in the Illawarra, and the impending prospects that global warming has brought. The build-up of glazes and brush strokes have further emphasised the movement in the sky and the water.
