This triptych was based on a series of photographs I took whilst sailing down the Hawkesbury River in the north of Sydney. I particularly liked the contrast of the warm colours of the sculpted rocks against the rough texture of the oyster shells and grit on the water line.
The title refers to the book and play by Kate Grenville based on the events of early settlers in this area, at the beginning of the nineteenth century
