SIX DAYS LAYING ON THIRROUL BEACH

Scroll

This was my initial idea recording the local beach from a different perspective – as seen lying down on the beach. I decided that this could be well represented by turning the canvases clockwise. By making a series, the hexaptych format took on a more abstract character with broad areas of paint depicting the sand and sky being broken up by the torn lines of the waves and sea. I give credit to the influences of John Berger’s Ways of Seeing, and my photography teachers from the past whose influences have been quietly percolating somewhere behind my eyes.
