Sandon Point is a renowned surfing landmark on the east coast of New South Wales. This view is from the beach in front of the sea wall adjacent to the Thirroul swimming pool. I made this observation on a squally, winters day. The two figures in the painting, depicting a father instructing his son. Once again, I am exploring the significance of man in the natural landscape. The restricted palette and horizontal division of the composition particularly appealed to me.
